New BYC Administrator. : Perhaps you've noticed a new face at the Club House recently. He's Steve Novak who's been hired by the Club to handle all the day to day business of running a yacht club plus overseeing the Jr. Sailing Program. Steve is already proving to be invaluable to the Club with his practical hands on knowledge.

BREAKWATER YACHT CLUB
Race Committee Co-Chair - Carol Morse - 283-6613

To All Wednesday Night Racers,

Welcome to the 2002 season! The Wednesday night series is set to begin. May cup has been a success thanks to our wonderful race committee. The new starting sequence is going very well.. The start time of 6:00 pm is GPS time. Yes your GPS has a clock.. If you have any questions please direct them to Carol Morse on land. The committee boat will endeavor to answer questions before the start of the sequences by radio.

As race chairman I am encouraging everyone to race the Devon Y.C. races this year. Notice of regatta and entry forms for the Devon races are available by contacting me and will be included in your racing packets. Please consider sailing these two additional Sat. races. We need to support the Eastern Yacht Clubs. These races are well run and the start and finish of the Challenge Cup has been moved to accommodate the Breakwater racers. The Gardeners Island Race is a lot of fun and the captains cocktail party for you and your crew should not be missed. The anchorage outside of Devon is nice and launch service is available that evening. We will be offering a bottle of champagne to the boats with best overall finishes in the SAG HARBOR CUP, MAYCROFT CUP and these two races combined (best 3 out of four).

Also due to a conflict in scheduling with Sag Harbor Yacht Club the Sag Harbor Cup has been moved to August 24th please make the appropriate changes to your calendars.

I’m looking forward to a great season. We have several certified race officers this year and I’ll keep you posted on the Racing seminar ELISA will be hosting in the fall. If you want to discuss rules and their application on the race course this is the seminar for you.

Thank-you
Carol Morse
